Tonya Faye Chasteen, 37, of Fruitland Park was enjoying a beautiful day by the park with a friend on Saturday. They were sitting in his truck watching a softball game that was going on at Veterans Memorial Park in FL. At around 5pm, men in matching uniforms wearing badges approached the red Dodge pickup truck the couple was sitting in and demanded they get out of the vehicle claiming they smelled marijuana.
As the two were ordered from the vehicle by threat of force the men began to loot the vehicle taking possession of two 300mg cannabis-infused Sour Patch Kids candies, the Suboxone strips that she was using to treat addiction withdraw symptoms and less than a gram of cannabis.
Chasten was kidnapped, taken into holding and has been accused of committing multiple drug crimes. The Lake County Jail agreed to release her on a $5,000 ransom. she is scheduled to appear in front of a judge in the future.
