Woman Attempts Escape after Cannabis Arrest

(KUTV) reports— "A woman was arrested in Grantsville for drug offenses and other violations before attempting to escape from police custody on Friday.

A court document states that 37-year-old Jenny Barber was arrested for escaping police custody, interfering with an arresting officer, illegal possession of marijuana, illegal possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a denied driver's license and operating a vehicle without insurance.
At approximately 9:20 p.m., Grantsville Police initiated a traffic stop on a green Volkswagen Beetle that was found not to have insurance. The driver - later identified as Barber - was found to have a denied driver's license and a warrant for her arrest, according to the probable cause statement.
Officers then advised her of her warrant and that she was under arrest, giving her several direct orders to step out of the car; but, Barber refused. The officers then opened the car door from inside the driver-side window and told her to step out of the vehicle. Barber took off her coat before finally stepping out of the vehicle.
Police then searched Barber, put her in handcuffs and double-locked them before securing her in the backseat of the police vehicle. Barber's vehicle was set to be impounded while the officers conducted a vehicle inventory.
