SCHOOL BOARD OFFICIAL AND HUSBAND CHARGED WITH CANNABIS POSSESSION


Conviction could result in the state revocation of teaching credentials and being barred from serving on the board of education permanently.


Stacey Scher serves as vice president of the Wayne Township Board of Education in New Jersey. According to reports her husband, Marc Scher was driving to pick up cannabis he and his wife had bought online from Canada. During the attempted transaction, police stepped in and arrested Scher. 


Federal officials and local police had reportedly started investigating these transactions in July


The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has charged the couple with “fourth-degree marijuana possession” and “conspiracy to possess marijuana”.


The couple was reportedly released from custody and appeared in court Nov. 4. No information has been released on the outcome of the trial.
