In the united States, the theft of mail is punishable by up to five years in federal prison and fines of up to $250,000. In this case, the assailants were employed by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office who admitted in a press release that they had arranged for the delivery of the package making them immune to this federal law.
Once the package was received, a group of armed men went after the resident of the home, Brandown Lawhorne who was not present at the time of the theft.
