Over 500 cannabis plants and more than $7k cash stolen in Oregon home invasion

The front door to a home in LaPine Oregon came violently crashing down Monday as the person inside witnessed a group of armed assailants all fitting the description of Breyona Taylor's murderers begin to fill the building. By threat of force, the 27 year old resident was made to sit silently as the gang began looting through the contents inside the home with their main point of interest focused on the 500+ plant cannabis farm thriving in the basement.

The 27 year old resident who's name has still not been released was taken to a nearby internment camp. 506 cannabis plants, 55 pounds of dried cannabis, 40 pounds of BHO, multiple empty vape pens, various processing equipment, 14 firearms and $7,920 were stolen at the time of the home invasion. The assailants were identified as members of the Deschutes County sheriff’s department working in collaboration with Deschutes County Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Detectives (DCIMEDs). A spokesperson for DEIMEDs said in a statement published by KTVS news they wanted to "thank the legal marijuana businesses within Deschutes County for their collaborative efforts in combating illegal marijuana operations,". The statement went on to explain "The knowledge the DCIMED’s received from focus groups confirms that illegal marijuana within Deschutes County is a major concern for the legal marijuana market". The man was issued a criminal citation for several drug charges, as well as illegal possession of a short-barreled shotgun. His property will not be returned to and he will not be compensated for the damage done to his home during the property invasion. In Oregon, the taxes that are collected from the recreational marijuana market is used for schools, drug treatment centers, public health, and law enforcement. The Deschutes County Board of Commissions approved the funding for the Deschutes County Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Detective team in 2019. Legal cannabis consumers have been helping to foot the bill for the continued harassment of home cannabis farmers ever since.
