Trinidad and Tobago The Loop Reports:
Police are once again reminding citizens that while marijuana may be decriminalised for personal consumption (30 grammes and less) at home, under the current amendments it remains illegal to smoke the drug in public.
This comes after three men were arrested on Christmas Eve for allegedly smoking weed while parked in the Trincity Mall car park.
Around midday, the three men, between 24 and 30, were held in a red Honda Coupe after police observed smoke coming from the car.
Upon investigating, they found three men in the vehicle – two of whom are Guyanese nationals – lighting up a joint.
The men were detained and charged.
The arrests were possible through the diligent work of PC Kerr and PC Charles of the Arouca CID.
