ELDERLY MAN CHARGED WITH FELONY POSSESSION AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

An elderly Idaho man has been charged with felony drug possession after a routine traffic stop on Halloween.

Shoshone County Sheriff's Deputies stopped the vehicle at 3pm in the area of Main Street in Smelterville, Idaho and reportedly the driver, 65 year old Duane D. Michlitsch admitted to having paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Police deployed K-9 units and confiscated the edibles, flower and accompanying paraphernalia as they put the elderly gentleman in handcuffs. Michlitsch was charged with possession of more than three ounces of marijuana and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. The only recorded booking for the county of Shoshone on that day.

Police reports indicate a total 1.1 lbs of “marijuana products” was seized from the traffic stop.

The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office made a post on Facebook Monday afternoon boasting “While searching the vehicle, Dep. Abshire discovered a hidden compartment in the vehicle where two additional large bags of marijuana were located. Michlitsch was arrested for felony possession for 1.1 combined pounds of Marijuana.” along with an image of Mr. Michlitsh’s mugshot.

No information on whether or not Mischlitsch is still being held has been released.
