Connecticut man who called police for legal guidance is abducted and released for ransom

Thursday evening, 21 year old Robert Michelson of Farmington, CT made a phone call to police with the following inquiry,

"I was just growing some marijuana and I was just wondering what, how much, you know, trouble you can get into for one plant,".

According to a report made by the Daily News the dispatcher on the other end asked Michelson if there was an active "crime" in progress in an attempt to have him incriminate himself. His answer, "Possibly". If there is no victim has a crime even been committed?


The dispatcher then traced the call to his residence and sent armed men to his home to bring him in by threat of violence.


Once in custody, Michelson was processed and released on a $5,000 ransom. the drug paraphernalia and a small amount of cannabis that was present in his home was stolen by the badged assailants.


Michelson reportedly flipped off his kidnappers as he was released. He is scheduled to appear in front of a judge at a later date.
