Cannabis Arrest at Peace Bridge

A father and son were arrested on the Peace Bridge at the US/Canadian border on November 8th for being in possession of 8 oz of cannabis. When asked by a US Border Patrol if there were any drugs in the vehicle the pair answered "no" but authorities conducted a search of the vehicle based on the "strong smell of marijuana" they detected.


According to reports from the US Attorney's Office, 6 oz of cannabis were found separated in 6 bags. Francis Munroe's pants, and a sixth bag under the driver's seatKenneth Francis Munroe, 60, and his son, Kenneth Philip Munroe, 30 were arrested and charged with entry of goods by means of false statements and simple possession of a controlled substance. They face up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
