CANNABIS ACTIVIST, “THE KINGPIN” FOUND DEAD IN JAIL CELL

The 57 year old cannabis activist and freedom fighter Thorne Peters was found unresponsive in his prison cell on Sunday

Peters was being housed in a Tennessee correctional facility on charges of cannabis possession. He had been in the Shelby County Correctional facility since October 6th 2018 and was set to be released in December of 2021.

According to authorities Peters was being housed in an individual cell alone, without any cellmates. Coroners reports have not been released. 

Peters was known for demonstrating acts of civil disobedience in the name of ending prohibition like when he sparked up in front of the TN Criminal Justice Center. He was also admonished by a judge at a trial for repeatedly editorializing ask ordering the judge to legalize cannabis.

On his website he had posted audio of an arresting officer admitting to utilizing cannabis at a preliminary hearing. He also entered into the Mayoral race in Shelby county in 2018.
