Authorities are placing the street value of the 325 lbs of cannabis seized in Jefferson Parish to have a street value of $1.2 million dollars. Fox 8 Local reports "Agents with the Major Crimes Task Force were contacted by the Homeland Security Investigations/ Border Enforcement Security Task Force with information to locate and identify the container."
Media reports have not indicated if the alleged cannabis had been tested for THC content to determine if it falls within the legal federal guidelines laid put in the recent Farm Act.
Police questioned 53-year-old Walter Fea who was arrested coming to pick up the contents of the shipping container and deliver it to another location. Authorities then delivered the shipping container to the address indicated without the cannabis inside and arrested a second individual, Charles Engel.
Upon searching Engle's vehicle, police confiscated just over 20 lbs of cannabis from his vehicle. His live-in girlfriend, Theresa Beasley was also arrested.
All 3 individuals are being held at Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on various drug charges and are waiting a court appearance.
